(10.4.11) Dhanvantri Jayanti

Dhanvantari Jayanti  - a day to worship and honour  the god of Ayurved

When is Dhanvantri Jayanti celebrated -
Every year Dhanwantri Jayanti is celebrated on the Trayodashi of krishna pakhsa in the month of Kartik by the Hindus and the practitioners of Ayurved.
Important things about Dhanvantri Jayanti -
> Kartik Krishna Trayodashi is considered as the birthday of Dhanvantri, the father of Ayurved. Dhanvantri is believed to be one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
> It is believed that during the churning of ocean of milk by the gods and the demons to get Amrit (nectar), Dhanvantri emerged from the ocean with an Amrit Kalash (a pot full of Amrit).
> Dhanvantri is the well wisher and preserver of the three worlds. He removes all the diseases. So on the Kartik Krishna Paksh Trayodashi people remember and honour him. An earthen lamp is lit at the door step of the house to welcome Dhanvantri with the belief that it all will please him and in return they will get health and happiness.
> The practitioners of Ayurved also celebrate this day with enthusiasm.
