Benefits of chanting Vishnu Shodash Naam Stotra / Sixteen names of Lord Vishnu / Sixteen activities and sixteen names of Lord Vishnu / विष्णु षोडश नाम स्तोत्र
Vishnu Shodash Naam Stotra is a hymn which has sixteen names of Lord Vishnu. These names are recited at the time of different activities to get the desired and auspicious results.The names of the different activities and the different name of Lord Vishnu are given below -
1. At the time of taking medicine, one must chant the name of 'Vishnu (विष्णु )'.
2. At the time of eating food, one must chant the name of 'Janaardan (जनार्दन )'.
3. At the time of sleeping , one must chant the name of 'Padmanaabh(पद्मनाभ )'.
4. At the time of wedding , one must chant the name of 'Prajaapati(प्रजापति )'.
5. At the time of war, one must chant the name of 'Chakradhar'(चक्रधर).
6. At the time of journey, one must chant the name of 'Trivikram'(त्रिविक्रम ).
7. At the time of death, one must chant the name of 'Naaraayan'(नारायण) .
8. At the time of meeting dear ones , one must chant the name of 'Shreedhar' (श्रीधर).
9. At the time of seeing bad dreams, one must chant the name of 'Govind' (गोविन्द) .
10. At the time of trouble, one must chant the name of 'Madhusoodan'(मधुसूदन).
11. While in the forest, one must chant the name of 'Nrisingh'(नृसिंह).
12. At the time of fire accident, one must chant the name of 'Jalshaayee Bhagawaan' (जलशायी भगवान).
13. At the time of crossing a river or sea , one must chant the name of 'Varaah'(वराह).
14. At the time of climbing mountain, one must chant the name of 'Raghunandan' (रघुनन्दन).
15. At the time of walking or going on foot , one must chant the name of 'Vaaman' (वामन).
16. At the time of starting any work, one must chant the name of 'Maadhav'(माधव) .
Note - After getting up in the morning, the person who reads or chants this shodash Naam Stotra, is free from all the sins and at last goes to Vishnu Lok (the abode of Lord Vishnu)
