(14.1.12) How to Worship Lord Ganesh (Ganesh Puja Vidhi)

Ganesh Puja Vidhi 

Lord Ganesh is the god of wisdom and prosperity. He is also known as obstacle remover. He is easily pleased. He is one of the Panch devas. Every work is started by worshiping Lord Ganesh. Here under is given the simple Puja process of Lord Ganesh :-
If the Ganesh idol is available, put it on the wooden Pata. If it is not then wind Mauli on a betel nut and place it on the symbol swastik. Then follow the following steps or upchars   -
1. Aavaahanam- O, Lord Ganesh, kindly come here with Riddhi and Siddhi.
2. Aasan- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you seat, kindly sit on it.
3. Paadhya- O, Lord Ganesh, I wash your feet.
4. Arghya-  O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you arghya, Kindly accept it.
5. Snaan- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you water for your bath, kindly accept it.
6. Vatra- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you clothes to wear, kindly accept it.
7. Yagyopaveet- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you Yaagyopavit to wear, kindly accept it.
8. Gandh- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you scented material, kindly accept it.
9. Sindur, Durva, flowers, Garland- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you sindur, Durvaa, flowers, mala, kindly accept them.
10. Dhoop- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you incense, kindly accept it.
11. Deepak- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you deepak, kindly accept it.
12. Naivedhya- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you, some eatables, kindly accept it.
13. Achaman- O, Lord Ganesh, I Offer you water to sip and wash mouth, Kindly accept it.
14. Tamboolam- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you betel leaves, Kindly accept them.
15. Pugiphalam- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you betel nut, kindly accept it.
16. Dakshina- O, Lord Ganesh, I offer you some money and a coconut, kindly accept it.
17. Kshma Praarthana- O, Lord Ganesh, if there has occurred any deficiency or mistake during my Puja, kindly overlook it. Kindly accept my Puja and shower your grace on me.

Ganesh Jayanti 2016 ( Muhurat)

When is Ganedh Chaturthi or Ganesh Jayanti 
In the year2016  Ganesh Jayanti / Ganesh chaturthi is on Monday , 05 September, 2016.
On this occasion God Ganesh Poojan will be done as follows -
Amrit chaughadiya - 06:23 to 07:56
( or ) Shubh Chaughadiya - 09:30 to 11:03.
( or ) Abhijit Muhurat - 12:12 to 13:01.(This time is considered better.)
Visarjan Day or Immersion Day of God Ganesh idols :-
Shukla paksh Chaturdashi of Bhadrapad  (which is also known as Anant Chaturdashi)
Important things - 
1. Lord Ganesh festival begins on Bhadra pad Shukla Chatirthi with Ganesh Poojan in the shubh muhurat. Usually Madhyaankaal is considered the best for Ganesh Puja.
 ( Subh Muhurat is given above for this year )
2. It ends after ten days on Anant Chaturdashi. On this day the devotees take out the procession and carry the idol of Lord Ganesh and immerse it in a lake or pond.This ritual is known as Visarjan.
3. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth day of Ganesh.
4. It is also believed that on this day Lord Shiva declared Ganesh as superior to all other gods.
5. Ganesh is worshipped as the god of wisdom , prosperity and good fortune .
6. It is believed that on the night of Ganesh Chaturthi ,the person must not see the moon as seeing the moon on this night may result in false accusation of stealing some thing .( To remove this blame one must listen to the story of Syamantak.Click here for this story .)
