5-3-3 CHAUGHADIYA or CHAUGHADIA MUHURAT
Chaughadiya or Chaughadia Muhurat is the auspicious time to begin a new project or work; to drive a new
vehicle, to meet officers, to begin journey, etc.
For the calculation of the
chaughadiya twenty four hours of the day and night are divided into sixteen
time segments. Each of these time segments is called a Chaughadiya. These
chaughadiyas are of seven types. They are good, bad or neutral in nature.
In this method each day is divided into
two time periods-
- 1. The day time- the period from sunrise to sunset.
- 2. The night time – the period from sunset to sunrise.
Method of calculation of the chaughadiyas
The
following are the factors that play an important role in calculating the period
of chaughadiya-
- 1. The city. (The place)
- 2. Date
- 3. Day
- 4. The time of sunrise and sunset
Example - 1
Name of the
city - Jodhpur
Longitude – 73 E 02’00
Latitude – 26 N
17’00
Date – 18
July 2012
Day - Wednesday
The time of sunrise
– 6.00
The time of
sunset – 19.27
The day time period is 13 hours and 26 minutes (=807 Minutes)
There fore,
each daytime chaughadiya lasts 807/8= 101 Minutes (approximately)
Thus
duration of each chaughadiya is one hour and forty one minutes (app.)
Example 2
Name of the
city—Jodhpur
Longitude – 73 E 02’00
Latitude – 26 N 17’00
Date and Day
– 03.01.2013 Thursday
The time of
sunrise—7.30
The time of
sunset—17.54
The day time
period is 10 hours and 24 Minutes. (=624 Minutes)
Each daytime
chaughadiya lasts 624/8 = 78 minutes.
Thus
duration of each chaughadiya is one hour and eighteen minutes. (approximately)
