SADHE TEEN
MUHURAT (Swyam Siddha Muhurtas)
As per
traditional Vedic astrology every year three and a half days are highly
considered auspicious. These three and a half day are known as the Sadhe Teen
Swayam Siddha Muhurtas (self proven muhurtas) Which means that no astrological
calculations are to be done for finding the auspicious time i.e. it is not
required to consult the Panchang for starting any work during these three and a
half days.
The three
and a half Muhurtas (sadhe Teen Muhurtas) are as follows-
- (1) Chaitra Shukla Pratipada – The first Tithi (day) of bright half of Chaitra month. The day is observed as traditional Hindu new year.
- (2) Akshya Tritiya- The third Thithi (day) of bright half of Vaishakha month. This day is known as Parshuram Jayanti. It is also regarded as the beginning of the Treta Yuga. The word Akshaya means that which never diminishes so the beginning of an event or purchasing valuables on this day are considered certain to bring luck and success.
- (3) Vijay Dasami or Dushara - The tenth Tithi (day)of bright half of Ashvina. On this day Ram won Rawan.
- (4) Kartika Shukla Pratipada- The first tithi (day) of kartika month. It is considered the beginning of the new year in some parts of India.
The first three tithis are counted as
full Muhurtas and the last one (Kartika Shukla Pratipada ) is counted as a half
muhurta.
