Important things about Lunar eclipse :-
If Lunar Eclipse is not visible , it has no importance to the Hindus and it is not considered   for any religious activities . And the rituals related to Lunar Eclipse like Sutak, bathing ,donations etc. are not observed .
When does Lunar Eclipse occur :- 
Lunar Eclipse is related to the Moon and it occurs when the earth's shadow falls on the moon.
Prohibited activities during Eclipse :- 
According to the Hindu belief during the eclipse , eating, sleeping and entertaining are prohibited. But these prohibitions do not apply to the sick,the children and the old .
What to be done during Eclipse :- 
Have a bath and chant the Mantras of your choice or Guru Mantra or Gayatri Mantra . The chanting of these mantras give positive results and is considered to be more fruitful . After the eclipse donation should be given as it is considered very beneficial and brings good results .
Note :-
During the Sutak and Eclipse period , the pieces of Kusha (a kind of grass which is considered holy ) should be put in the pots of water, flour and other eatables to keep their purity intact . When the eclipse period is over , the utensils should be washed and cleaned, the clothes should be washed ,bath should be taken and Janev ( the holy threads) should be changed.

When is Govardhan Puja / Annakoot
In the year 2016 Govardhan Pooja / Annakoot festival is on Monday, 31.10.2016 , Kartik Shukla Pratipada Samwat 2073. 
Govardhan Pooja
Govardhan Pooja  is celebrated on kartik shukla pratipada. On this day Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan Parvat on His little finger and saved the people of Braj from the heavy rain fall caused by Indra.  
In the memory of this event in the morning people make mounds of cow dung(it is the symbol of Govardhan Parvat ), they decorate them with flowers and worship them. 
Annakoot -
Annakoot  is a part of Govardhan Pooja festival. People make different kinds of Bhog ( dishes ) to offer to Lord Krishna and then they distribute this Bhog as Prasad. 
New year - 
In some parts of India , the kartik Shukla Pratipada is considered to be the new year day. This day  is also  known as the Swayam Siddh Muhurat ( the self proven muhurat ). So  on this day any new work can be started if the proper muhurat is not available.

In the year 2016 Narak Chaturdashi or Roop Chaturdashi is on Saturday, 29.10.2016 Kartik Krishna 14 samwat 2073. 
Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi is known as Narak Chaturdashi or Roop Chaturdashi. It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna killed Narkashur and freed the people from fear. This day is also known as Roop Chaturdashi. So people should get up early the morning and smear the body with flour , oil and turmeric and then take bath. 
Deepdan - 
On this day during the pradosh kaal fourteen earthen lamps should be lit at different places like in the temple of Brahma , Vishnu, Mahesh , Garden , in the streets etc. It pleases Yamraj the god of death.

When is Vijaya Dashami or Dussehra
In the year 2016 the Vijaya Dashami / Dashera Festival is on Tuesday, 11 October,2016.
Aparaajitaa Poojan:-
On this day Vijay Muhurat for Aparajita Poojan is from 14:20 to 15:06
Important things related to Vijaya Dashami - 
1. Vijya dashami festival is the indicator of the end of rainy season. It is celebrated all our India with pomp and show on Ashvin Shukla Dashami.
2. On this day the Kshatriyas worship the weapons , the Brahmans worship the Shastras ( holy books) and the Vaishyas worship the Bahis ( account books.)
3. Durga idol Visarjan ( immersion ) , Aparajita Pooja , Shami Pooja are the important parts of this festival.
4. In Bengal,people make beautiful images ( idols) of goddess Durga . They offer worships to her for nine day and keep fast . On the tenth day i.e. on Dussehra they observe immersion ceremony of these idols. For it  they go to the near by river bank or a pond singing and dancing and immense the idols.
5. It is believed that on this day Lord Ram  killed Ravan. So this festival is celebrated in the memory of Ram's victory over Ravan . This was the victory of good over evil.
6. Large effigies of Ravan , his brother Kumbhkarn and his son Meghnath are placed in an open ground and burnt. They produce a thrilling and amusing firework show.
7. Vijaya Dashami is one of the Sadhe teen Swayam siddh Muhurats (self proven muhurtas.) So this day is considered auspicious for starting any new work, purchasing vehicles , opening new shops etc.

When is Anant Chaturdashi Vrat  
In the Year 2016 Anant Chaturdashi is  on Thursday, 15 September 2016.  
Important things about Anant Chaturdashi and Vrat - 
1. Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksh in the month of Bhadrapad is known as Anant Chaturdashi or Anant Chaudas.
2. On this day Anant vrat is observed. This vrat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
3. Uday Vyaapinee Chaturdashi ( the Chaturdashi which pervai is at the time of sunrise ) is taken for this vrat.
4. It is believed that the person who observes this vrat for fourteen year goes to the Vishnu Look after his/her death.
5. Anant Chaturdashi is the last day of the festival of Ganesh Utsav. On this day all the Ganesh idols brought homes are immersed in the near by take, river or pond.
Benefits of Anant Vrat -
During the period when the Pandava brothers were living in the forest, one day Yudhishthir Acted upon Lord Krishna's advice and observed the Anant vrat with full faith and devotion. As it result they got victory in the great war of Mahabharat and got back their empire.
The method of Vrat and Puja:-
The person who observes this fast should wear clean clothes and take the Sankalp of the Vrat. Then he should place the statue of Lord Vishnu and Shesh nag on a Chauki made of wood. He should colour  a piece of thread with turmeric and fourteen knots are made in this thread. This piece of thread is placed in front of the statue of Lord Vishnu. Then it should be worshiped with gandh (incense), Puspa (Flowers), Dhoop, Deep and Navaidhya. The story related to Anant Chaturdashi should be listened to and then the fast should be broken taking Aloona (Putting without salt) food.
