When is Lunar Eclipse / Chandra Grahan in the year 2017 :-
In the year 2017 the Lunar eclipse or the Chandra Grahan is as follows - 
(1) On 16 /17 February, 2017 (the detail is given below)
(2) On 7/8 August, 2017.(the detail is given below)
(1) In the year 2017 the Lunar Eclipse is on Friday, 10 / 11 Feb. 2017 Magh Shukla Purnima, Friday, Samwat 2073.

Important things about Lunar eclipse :-
If Lunar Eclipse is not visible , it has no importance to the Hindus and it is not considered   for any religious activities . And the rituals related to Lunar Eclipse like Sutak, bathing ,donations etc. are not observed .
When does Lunar Eclipse occur :- 
Lunar Eclipse is related to the Moon and it occurs when the earth's shadow falls on the moon.
Prohibited activities during Eclipse :- 
According to the Hindu belief during the eclipse , eating, sleeping and entertaining are prohibited. But these prohibitions do not apply to the sick,the children and the old .
What to be done during Eclipse :- 
Have a bath and chant the Mantras of your choice or Guru Mantra or Gayatri Mantra . The chanting of these mantras give positive results and is considered to be more fruitful . After the eclipse donation should be given as it is considered very beneficial and brings good results .
Note :-
During the Sutak and Eclipse period , the pieces of Kusha (a kind of grass which is considered holy ) should be put in the pots of water, flour and other eatables to keep their purity intact . When the eclipse period is over , the utensils should be washed and cleaned, the clothes should be washed ,bath should be taken and Janev ( the holy threads) should be changed.
