> Ramdev ji, who is popularly known as Baba Ramdev, was born on Saturday, Bhadra pad Shukla Panchami in Samwat 1409.
> His father was Ajmal ji and his mother was Maina De.
> The birth place of Ramdevji is Undu Kashmir (in Barmer district).
> In Samwat 1425, Ramdev ji established a village named Runicha which is now known as Ramdevra. It is 12 km.to the north of Pokharan in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.
> It is believed that Ramdevji was one of the forms of Lord Krishna.
> Ramdev ji took Samadhi on Bhadrapad Shukla Ekadashi in Samwat 1442.
> Every year a fair is held at Ramdevra. This fair is dedicated to the folk deity Ramdev ji.
> The Hindus and the Muslims worship Ramdev ji with equal respect. The Muslims call him Peer or Ramsa Pir and the Hindus call him Baba Ramdev.
> It is said that Ramdevji had devine powers.
> Every year thousands of pilgrims go on foot to Ramdevra to have the Darshan of Baba Ramdevji. They come from Rajasthan, Gujrat, Harayana, Madhya Pradesh etc. Some of the pilgrims go to Ramdevra on foot. On the way to Ramdevra at many places, Bhandaras are arranged by the devotees of Ramdevji. In these Bhandaras the Jataroos ( the people who go to Ramdevra are called Jataroos) are served with food, tea, break fast etc. The Jataroos can also stay there at night. These Bhandaras have proved very fruitful to the persons particularly to those who are from the weaker section of society.
