Importance of Satyanarayan Vrat Katha

The Hindus worship Lord Vishnu as the preserver of the universe. Lord Vishnu establishes peace and Dharma on this earth. Satayanarayan is one of the forms of Lord Vishnu. In this from he is 'the lord of  Truth' who establishes truth.
Listening to the stories related to Satyanarayan vrat is the important part of this vrat. There are five chaptars in the katha . In these chapters or kathas there is the description of the origin of this vrat and puja, the benefits of observing the vrat, the precautions while observing the vrat and the importance of prasad. These stories also have the description of the glory and the benefit of listening to these stories.
The first chapter begins with the visit of Dev Rishi Narad to Mrityulok. During this visit he saw the human beings suffering very much. Seeing it, he felt grieved and went to Lord Vishnu to find out the way of relieving the sufferings of the mankind. He told Lord Vishnu about his visit to Mrityulok and the sufferings of the human beings and also requested him to show the right way through which their sufferings and sorrows might come to an end. At this Lord Vishnu told him that people must observe the Satyanarayan vrat with full faith, listen to the katha related to the vrat and have the prasad. By doing so all their miseries will come to an end and they will lead happy and prosperous life by the grace of Lord Satyanarayan.
In the chapters second, third, fourth and fifth there are also the stories which have the description of the importance and benefit of observing this vrat.

Usually Satyanarayan vrat is observed on Purnima Tithi.

Important things about the Vrat process-
Satyanarayan is the Lord of truth. He is one of the forms of Lord Vishnu. The Hindus observe Satanarayan Vrat to get the blessing of Lord Vishnu.
1. On the day of Vrat a wooden plank is placed in a clean room.
2. An idol or a picture of Lord Satyanarayan is put on the plank. Near the plank a Kalash is placed.
3. Ghee Deepak is lighted.
4. Then Puja is performed with due process.
5. The stories related to Lord Satyanarayan are read out by the pandit and the vratis listaned to them with great faith.
6. After the Puja and the telling of the stories, the Aarti is performed.
7. After the Aarti, the prasadis distributed among the devotees.
8. Donation is made according the capacity of the vrati.
9. Then the Vratis break their fast by eating Satwik food.

1. Akshaya Tritiya is considered as one of the most auspicious and sacred Tithis in the Hinduism.

Process of Vrat and Puja on Akshaya Tritiya
The person who wants to observe the vrat on Akshaya Tritiya must get up early in the morning and have a bath. Offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu  and worship him by observing shodashopachaar Puja or Panchopchaar Puja. Distribute the prasad among the devotees. The vrati should feed one or more Brahmans and give them donations as per his/her capacity then he should break fast.

Ram Prayer Mantra for removing obstacles and getting wealth and prosperity

Lord Ram is known as Purushottam which means the best of men or the supreme person. He is the ocean of mercy. The Mantras dedicated to Him are the source of happiness. They are the remover of all kinds of troubles.
The process of Mantra Jap - 

After getting up in the Brahma Muhurat, have a bath and sit on a peace of woollen cloth or a mat of kusha grass, facing north or east. Keep a picture of Lord Ram before you. Meditate on Lord Ram for a few minutes and then chant or recite the following Mantra prayer for  21 times daily. Continue doing so as long as you like.

The Mantra is as follows - 
आपदामपहर्तारं दातारं सर्वसम्पदाम्। लोकाभिरामं श्रीरामं भूयो भूयो नमाम्यहम्। 
रामाय रामभद्राय रामचन्द्राय वेधसे।  रघुनाथाय नाथाय सीतायाः पतये नमः। 
"Aapadaaamapahartaaram Daataaram Sarvasampadaam.
Lokaabhiraamam Shreeraamam Bhooyo bhooyo Namaamhaham.
Raamaay Raambhadraay Raamchandraay Vedhase. 
Raghunaathaay Naathaay Seetaayaah  Pataye Namah."
Meaning - He, who removes all the adversities and gives all kinds of wealth (to everyone), the world feel very much pleased by looking at Him, I bow down to that Ram again and again.
Salutations to Lord Ram, Rambhadra, Ramchandra, Raghunath and the lord of Sita.
After reciting this prayer Mantra, have a feeling that Lord Ram is showering His blessing upon you. All of your troubles are being removed by the grace of Lord Ram. You are making progress in every field of life. You are getting wealth, prosperity and fame.

Narayan Kavach / Why to recite Narayan Kavach/ Benefits of Narayan Kavach

Narayan Kavach means the armour of Lord Natayan. It is a prayer in the form of a Kavach (an armour) for the protection of oneself.
This Narayan Kavach appears in the sixth Skand of the eighth chapter of Shree Madabhaagavad. The first three shlokas ( verses ) of this Narayan Kavach are introductory shlokas. In these shlokas the king Parikshit asks, " Kindly tell me the Narayan Kavach through which Indra drove away the soldiers of his enemy and was able to get victory in the battle field. "
At this Shree Shukhdev says, " When the gods appointed Vishvaroop their priest then Vishnu roop taught Indra, the Narayan Kavach. "
Benefits of reciting Narayan Kavach - 
The following are the benefits of reciting Narayan Kavach -
1. This Narayan Kavach protects the person from enemies if he recites it with full faith and devotion.
2. The person who reads Narayan Kavach is protected from all the dangers.
3. In the shlok 36 it is said that if the wearer of this armour ( in other words the person who recites this Narayan Kavach ) sees any one with his eyes or touches him with his feet, that person is immediately free from all kinds of fears.
4. In the shlok 37 of Narayan Kavach, it is said that the person who reads this Kavach, has no fear from the king, the robbers, the evil spirits and wild animals.
5. In the shlok 41, it is said that the person who reads this Narayan Kavach or even listens to it, all the beings respectfully bow down before him and he is free from all kinds of fears.
6. In the shlok 42, it is said that Indra learnt this knowledge from Aacharya Vishvaroop and Won the Asurs in the battle field and enjoyed Trailokya Lakshmi i.e. the wealth of the three worlds.

Navratra is an auspicious  period of nine days during which the following things should be done -

When is Karani Mata fair  held -
Karnimata fair is held twice a year during both the Navratras i.e. in the month of Chaitra and in the month of Ashvin.
Important things about Karni Mata fair and the temple - 
1. Karanimata fair is held at Deshnok in Bikaner district in Rajasthan.
2. Karani Mata fair is held in the memory and honor of Karani Mata  who is regarded as the goddess of power.
3. The people of Charan community are the followers of Karani Mata and they regard her as their patron deity. Besides Charans, the people of Rajput community also come here and worship her.
4. The priests of the goddess perform the Mangal Aarti of the goddess early in the morning.
5. One thing that attracts and may look peculiar to the visitors is the presence of the rats in the temple complex.
6. The rats run here and there  freely without any fear. So the Karani Mata temple is popularly known as the temple of rats.
7. These rats are considered divine. It is also believed that these rats have the blessings of goddess Karni so the visitors tries their best not to harm them in any way.
8. People consider it an auspicious omen if they happen to see any white colored rat in the temple.

Important Things about Kaila Devi and the fair - 
1. Kailadevi is believed to be the incarnation of goddess Durga.
2. The temple of Kailadevi was built by the king Bhompal. The temple is situated about 25 km. away from Kaurali.
3. In the temple there are two statues . One of them is of Kailadevi and the other is of Chamunda devi.
4. A fair which is known as the Kaila Devi fair, is held in the month of Chaitra every year. People around Kaurali and from other parts of north India to have the Darshan of Kaila Devi and worship her.

Holi is a festival of joy and merry making. It is also the festival of colors, noisy mirth, rough practical jokes and loud singing and dancing. But due to some unpleasant things or actions the joy of the festival turns into unhappiness. To avoid untoward incidents, keep the following tips in mind -
What to do -
> Use herbal or natural colors.
> Mix the turmeric powder and Besan and you can use it as dry yellow color to smear it on the faces of your friends.
> Mix red sandal powder in water and let it turn  into paste form.
> Use the colors of good quality if natural colors are not available.
> Apply oil on your hair.
> Smear some oil, preferably coconut oil, on your body, particularly on your face and on the uncovered parts of your body.
>   If you have skin allergy, avoid using colors.
> Use antiseptic cream to avoid any harm to your body.
> Apply nail polish on your nails.
> While removing the color from your body, use the mixture of curds, besan and turmeric powder.
What not to do -
> Do not use chemical colors.
> Do not smear color forcibly.
> Do not throw dirty water at others.
> Do not use foul language.
