Ekadashi -
Ekadashi is considered very holy and pious Tithi in Hinduism. It is the day of observing fast and devotion. According to the Hindu calendar there are two Ekadashi in a month, of them one occurs in the Krishna Paksh and the other one occurs in the Shukla Paksh. Thus there are twenty four Ekadashi in a year. In the Adhik Maas ,there are two additional Ekadashi. Thus there are 26 Ekadashis in all and each of them has its own name and importance.

Importance of Ekadashi- Ekadashi is a very important Tithi.The person who observes the fast on Ekadashi, his sins are washed away which he has committed knowingly or unknowingly and he attains Moksh. Ekadashi Vrat helps the person in controlling his senses and the Vrati begins to follow the path of devotion with pure heart.
Ekadashi Vrat Vidhi or how to observe Ekadashi fast-
Ekadashi Vrat is a three day process. The person who observes Ekadashi fast should not eat anything after sunset on the Dashmi Tithi, the day before Ekadashi.
On the Ekadashi the person should get up early in the morning and have a bath. He should do Puja of Lord Vishnu and recite the Stotras, Mantras etc.In the night he should listen or tell religious stories.
On Dwasashi he should give food to the Brahmin and then he should break his Ekadashi fast.
