For example Agni is the lord of Pratipada, Brahma is the lord of Dwitiya, Gauri is the lord of Tritiya, Ganesh is the lord of Chaturthi and Snake is the lord of Panchami. According to the Hindu belief there is a tradition of giving honour to Snakes. So on Nag Panchami , snakes are worshiped and fast is observed.
