The story of Veervati
A Ved Pathi Brahmin of Shakprasthpur had a daughter. Her name was Veervati.  After her marriage , she kept fast on Karva Chauth. She was at her parents' house. According to the ritual, the woman must take her food after  the moon has risen. But she suffered severe thirst and hunger. Her brother could not bear to see his sister in such distress. So he let off fire works behind a Peepal tree which seemed as if the moon had risen. The sister mistook it for the  moon and broke her fast. As a result of it, her husband got invisible. Veervati became sad. Then she kept the Chaturthi Vrat for twelve months and got her husband back.
